Human health and social work is Bristol’s largest sector (around 42,000 jobs), with University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust running over 13,000 staff across 10 sites including the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Temple Quarter and St Philip’s Marsh, 135 hectares of brownfield regeneration around Temple Meads targeted to deliver up to 10,000 homes and 22,000 jobs, keep construction-site security in long-term demand. Bristol also has a sizeable high-rise fire-safety programme: after a fire at Eccleston House the city council is removing cladding and installing sprinklers across all 62 of its high-rise blocks (a £96 million, 10-year programme), with waking-watch patrols currently in place on 38 towers as an interim measure.
