SIA Door Supervision licensing
Anyone guarding licensed premises or an event against disorderly behaviour, theft or unauthorised access under a contract must hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence, and deploying unlicensed staff is a criminal offence. Every Ashridge event officer is SIA-licensed and BS 7858 vetted.

Event security is priced per event after a risk assessment, not from a fixed rate, because cost depends on the numbers attending, the venue and duration, the licensing conditions, and the number of door supervisors and stewards required. A steward guides and informs attendees and helps with crowd flow but has no licensed authority to intervene. An SIA-licensed door supervisor can manage access, refuse entry and respond to disorderly behaviour. Most events use a mix of both.
